The Benefits of Taking a Focused Approach to Your Krav Maga Training.

Concentration and focus.  The two things we cannot get through our day without. Whether you are looking to be productive at work, or trying to ace your exams, or simply trying to make your everyday life easier, concentration and focus are crucial to this process.  But when it comes down to recreation, we often try to take the 1-2 hours we are devoting to our extracurricular activities as a way to unwind and relax our mind.

Krav Maga definitely fits the bill.  What better way to relax after a long day then to be in a fun and supportive environment, surrounded by friends, punching and kicking things together?  Impact Krav Maga certainly provides that atmosphere.  You can come in, work hard, get a great workout, relieve some stress and recharge for the next day.  But Impact is more than just a gym.  We are a school.  We don’t just make you do mindless exercises and have you hit the bag for hours at a time for no apparent purpose other than to give you a workout.  No, our mission is far more that.  Our program is designed where each class gives the beginner an opportunity to learn at a comfortable pace, but at the same time challenges even the most advanced students that have been with us for years.  Classes build off each other.  Our striking classes feed into the Krav Maga lessons, our fighting classes perfect and challenge previously learned skills, and our advanced classes take the training to the next level.  At Impact we have some of the most qualified Krav Maga instructors in the world.  And when we teach, we don’t just tell you what to do, but we meticulously break down how to do it, and more importantly teach you the reason for doing it this way in the first place.

Why is this important to you as a student?  Because we believe that by challenging the students to think and understand the concepts and the principles of the system, as well as the reasons for the technical details of the techniques, students tend to absorb and retain the knowledge better than if they were only subjected to simple rote memorization.  This ultimately means that you are much more likely to perform better in a violent situation and be more prone to adjust and overcome unforeseen attacks.  In fact we have had students, both civilians and police officers, who have used Krav Maga successfully for self-defense, and have told us how well they have dealt with these stressful situations mainly due to our unique method of teaching.

So what’s required of you to take full advantage of our school and our program?  Focus and concentration in your training.  Yes, we provide you the knowledge and the information, but it is up to you to process it.  Simply showing up and going through the motions may not be enough to fully benefit from what our school has to offer.  Take the time to think about the nuances we are addressing.  Process our feedback and take the time to perfect the corrections we are addressing.  Take the time to self-correct and analyze your actions.  We will always be there to correct you in class, but we won’t be there if you are forced to use these skills elsewhere.  So the more you take control of your own training, the better the outcome will be.

We realize that by the end of the day we are often so rundown from all the stress of the workday, that often it is not easy to fully invest your mental capacity to your training.  But think of it as the opposite.  The training at the end of your day is your time to leave all your stress at the door and devote yourself fully to something completely different, something fun, exciting and definitely useful.  Plus the combination of mental and physical stimulation that you get from our training, will revitalize you, refocus you and give you the energy to face the next workday.   The more you put in to your training, the more you will get out.  This applies to the skills you will acquire from taking a more focused approach to your training, but also it will alleviate the stress of the everyday by focusing your mind on something so unique and different.
