Breaking down Krav Maga defenses

One of the most valuable lessons you will pick up from training Krav Maga is that a memorized technique is very fragile. Memorizing a movement or technique can take a long time for your brain to capture and to remember especially during the highly stressful context of a real life attack. However, a technique or movement that your brain understands, that makes logical sense, and thus has meaning to you, will be much faster to learn and for your brain to register and it will become a more solid technique. Of course, repetitive practice with the goal of fine tuning a technique will create muscle memory. And just as critical, the more you practice a specific defense in a combination of drills that mimic some components, simple and more complex, and different levels of stress, the more likely you are to become proficient and be able to use the defense effectively when confronted with a realistic street attack.

Some of our students often ask us about the importance and function of the stabbing defense against a punch from an angle.

Here is short video in which expert Krav Maga instructors, Yury and Veronica, demonstrate and break down this technique. Hope this video will help you understand the problem and the defense.

Please feel free to ask us any question, we will be happy to help.
