Crime is up in San Diego!

If you ever wondered why you train Krav Maga at Impact Self Defense, why you work your butts off and sweat your guts out week in and week out, go home brandishing nice shiny bumps and bruises, here is a good reason.

According to a recent article published in the Voice of San Diego, due to economic constraints, police is struggling to cope with the increase in violent crimes that are sweeping San Diego this year. Police Chief Bill Lansdowne: “It’s starting to get away from us a little bit. It’s my professional belief that the crime rate will continue to rise.”

Violent crimes are up 12.6% for the months of January to May this year compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to the San Diego Police Department Crime Statistics Report (http://www.sandiego.gov/police/services/statistics) there were 2281 violent crimes, including murder, rape, armed robbery, strong-arm robbery and aggravated assault in the first five months of 2012 alone.
